Wexford in Bloom Competition Launched

The Wexford in Bloom 2013 Competition was launched on Thursday June 6th at The Bullring, Wexford. The committee are delighted to announce that there is no entry fee this year. The idea behind the Wexford in Bloom competition was to enhance the town image and to attract more visitors to the town in conjunction with the Tidy Towns Committee who wish to retain the bronze medal won by Wexford Town last year and possibly hope for silver this year. Each year the committee contact all the retailers in Wexford Town and invite them to take part by ordering hanging baskets or window boxes and with the help and support of Wexford County Council & Wexford Borough Council, and Wexford Credit Union and the participation of the Wexford in Bloom Committee the town of Wexford is transformed and is enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. At the moment the committee are very busy with the help of Wexford Borough Council delivering the hanging baskets and window boxes purchased on Wexford Main Street and targeted side streets. Residents groups have also been involved this year and with the help of Rapid, Wexford County Council and Wexford Borough Council there has been an increase in the sale of window boxes which now adorn the houses of The Faythe, Mary Street, High Street and St Patrick’s Square. Wexford in bloom are also helping Wexford Borough Council in organizing the planting of the public flower beds and the containers around Wexford town. All plants are sourced for Wexford in Bloom by Olga and Joe from Beechdale Nurseries, Clonroche, and we would like to thank them for all their help and advice.
